The speed of night is faster than the speed of light! Or, more specifically, a shadow can appear to travel faster than the speed of light.

Think of it this way: imagine you're illuminating the moon with a big spotlight. You then slowly cover the light with a piece of opaque material. The width of your lamp, by the time it hits the moon, is scaled up to the moon's size. As you cover the beam, this also covers a portion of your giant projection. If this projection is big enough, as you cover your lamp, you will be covering a distance larger than would be possible for light to travel in the same amount of time.

Don't worry, causality isn't broken as no information is actually transmitted faster than light, it's an illusion.
